Counselling

Counsellors and Psychotherapists use a professional but interpersonal relationship with their clients, to enable them to develop an understanding about themselves and to make changes in their lives.

There are many different styles of Counselling, including Psychodynamic, CBT, Gestalt, Person-Centred, Family Therapy and Marriage Counselling to name just a few. Many Counsellors and Psychotherapists are eclectic in their styles and an initial consultation will enable a client to assess whether the particular style used by the Therapist, is suitable for them. Some Therapists work entirely in the present, whilst others are more interested in a client's past history and family relationships. Therapy is usually offered face to face but can also be available by means of the internet, telephone, or video conferencing.
