Justine is inspired by movement and the body, and her tremendous respect for the body is reflected in her teaching. For over 10 years, Justine was a competitive figure skater, and supplemented her on-ice training with both Pilates and ballet. Her love of yoga first began during her transition out of the life of a competitive athlete, and now relies upon the practice both mentally and physically. She received her 200-hour yoga teacher training through YogaWorks with David Kim and Heather Seiniger and is on her way to completing her 300 hour yoga teacher training through Embodied Flow with Scott Lyons & Tara Judelle. Through her yoga classes, she strives to create a safe and playful environment for students to explore mind-body connection as well as develop a keener sense of awareness both on and off the mat. As a figure skater, Pilates greatly enhanced Justine’s understanding of working with and from her “core.” She completed the comprehensive teacher certification with Body Arts Science International (BASI). In addition to studying Yoga and Pilates, Justine has completed trainings in Resistance Flexibility Strength Training (RFST) and Deep Bodywork Massage.
I believe movement is medicine. How we move is how we live. So when we choose to move mindfully, we can live mindfully. Likewise, when we practice moving with grace, ease, strength, and compassion, we can subsequently integrate & embody these practices into our daily lives off of the mat. I am a supporter of all different types of movement and think the more we explore, the better.
