Ella Mesma is a dancer and choreographer, a coach and mentor, a yoga teacher and a creator! She loves to work with empowerment in her choreography and as her ethos for life.
She also created an entrepreneurial idea with Business Yoga this year and for her creative endeavours goes by the name of Maya Gandaia. An award-winning dancer and choreographer, making work about the creative and spiritual journey as well as political and current topics, she was a 2016/7 Associate Dance Artist with Dance City.
Ella trained at Laban and the Place where she also received an MA in Dance. As an independent dancer she has worked for a number of leading companies including Russell Maliphant Company, Southpaw Dance Company as well as for Wendy Houston’s ‘Stupid Women’ and the Olympics Opening Ceremony. In 2013 Ella Mesma began producing Roots of Rumba, an annual Latin Dance Theatre Festival, and was selected as a future Dance Leader for the ABLE leadership program.
Ella Mesma was awarded a Bench fellowship for emerging female choreographers in 2015. She is a 2017/18 resident artist at the Trinity Centre in Bristol and she curated a sold out Wild Card at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London in 2017. In 2018 she has begun curating a UK based event for empowerment called 'She Created Her Life" with Tichea Brade.
In her life, Ella strives to overcome her own learnt patterns and limiting beliefs to create the life she would love, which includes lots of dance, music and yoga, being in beautiful surroundings, travel, great food and being surrounded by friends.
