- Dog Hikes, Rehabilitation, Behavioral Consultations
I’ve always been drawn to animals and nature, and, after discovering the show, “The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Milan, I was hooked. I became absolutely obsessed. This was around 2007, while I was living with eight other guys, and raising my two dogs as well as my roommate’s dog, basically trying to emulate Cesar Milan as closely as possible.
After graduating from college in 2009, I couldn’t get a job, and the idea of starting a dog hiking company persisted in my mind until I decided to go for it. The rest has been a lot of mistakes, accidents, and real-world problems that I would now call experience. An important part of my story is also meeting Brandon Fouche, a dog aggression expert with over 30 years of experience, who I would more closely associate with a spiritual teacher. Brandon’s example made me aware of a deeper level of understanding not only of dogs, but of life. Now, my goal is really to help as many people as possible by linking the things that I have learned, and continue to learn, with people who can use the information. And also by spreading love during my lifetime, something I have come to see as possibly the most important thing that someone can do. Thank you for reading! I would love to be able to connect with you or help you in any way I can at some point.
My philosophy is that, while I believe we are souls inhabiting earth, we still must live within the confines of the rules of this planet. One of the necessities when dealing with dogs is, as with all social species, dominance and hierarchy. While beginning with dominance/power, (the rules of nature), I can then create an environment where dogs can heal and experience love, (the spiritual aspect). Working with dogs is not a cookie-cutter approach; some dogs I want to have heal emotionally and trust me before they respect me, some dogs I want to have the respect from right away. It is a different process with each dog, but ultimately the goal is to provide whatever that dog needs from me to be balanced and healed. From an even further viewpoint, my goal is to understand the ways that dogs become injured emotionally, and to trace the symptoms of the problems within our dogs back to the root causes in the way that we think and act as humans. Dogs are a mirror of us, and by healing and addressing the problems we find in them, I can follow that string back to healing and addressing the problems we have as humans. This is a longer process and something that may take decades.
