Carl Nelke is a Psychotherapist and Consultant who has been in private practice for over 20 years. His specialties lie in addictions, LGBTQ, and Lyme disease treatment.
As an undergrad student, Carl attended art and architecture schooling at PA School of Art and Design, transferring midway through his undergraduate work to New York City to act and work in fashion and eventually to major in Psychology and Sociology at Hunter College. His post graduate work include an MA in Developmental and Educational Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, as well as becoming an LCSW, attending post graduate schooling at Columbia University as well.
Post graduate school, Carl attended a 4 year training program in psychodrama, a two year program in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and a two year program studying object relations. Coursework has also included various addiction studies, Gestalt, interpersonal, and cognitive behavioral studies over the years in private practice. Car First job post graduate school was working in an outpatient addiction center in NYC for two years as a primary LGBTQ addiction therapist. From there he spent two years working for a major medical center as a primary psychotherapist. In the mid 90s Carl served as an HIV/AIDs specialty psychotherapist, as well as a corporate crisis intervention psychotherapist post 9/11. For the majority of his career in Psychotherapy and Consulting, Carl has worked with addictions, LGBTQ issues, and as of the last 4 years Lyme disease treatment.
My approach is eclectic, trained in various modalities such as psychodrama, psychoanalytic, interpersonal, spiritual, mindful, object relational, addictions, etc.
